1. Can you walk to the beach? Yes, we are within 15 minutes walking distance to Arrifana Beach. We are also always happy to give guests lifts to Arrifana and other beaches close to the lodge on Saturday's and Sunday's (non surfing days) or in the evenings. 2. How close is the nearest town? The nearest town is Aljezur which is a 10 minute drive from the lodge. It is a municipal town and contains a health center, pharmacy, supermarkets, historic castle, museums, and lots of great restaurants and bars. 3. What is the easiest way to get from Faro airport to Lagos (free pick up point)? The best way to get from Faro airport to Lagos is by shuttle transfer! The email address to book the shuttle from Faro to Lagos is www.shuttledirect.com. The price usually starts from Eur 20 per person each way or Eur 40 round trip. You will need a credit card to book and they will send you a confirmation email to your email address which you will need to print out to show to the driver at arrivals at Faro airport. The driver will have your name on a board as you exit through arrivals at Faro airport. When booking this you need to state that Lagos train station is your destination point. We will then meet you at the Lagos train station!! 4. Do we need to rent a car? -Guests that are booked in for the beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer packages do not need to rent a car although it can be nice to have transport to other areas of the Algarve on Saturday's and Sunday's (non surfing days). Guests that are booked with the experienced surfer package will have to rent a car as there is no transport provided. Check out www.autorent.pt for some great rental deals. 5. Do you cater for people that are on a vegan diet? -Yes, we cater for all different meal requirements including vegetarians, Coeliacs, vegans, and any type of food allergies. Please let Sarah know when making a booking. 6. Will there be other total beginners staying at the lodge? -Yes, we always have a majority of beginners on our surf courses. 7. Is there an ATM close to the lodge? Yes, the ATM is located less than a 5 min drive from the lodge. We are always happy to stop at the ATM to and from the beach if needed. 8. Is there anywhere to go out at night? Yes, Arrifana Surf lodge is located very close to a few local restaurants as well as a small Portuguese bar. There is also a small night club that is open on Saturdays located only a 10 minute walk from the lodge. 9. Do you hire out boards and wetsuits? Yes, boards are hired out at Eur 20 per day and wetsuits are hired out at Eur 5 per day. We do offer special discounts for hiring out on a weekly basis! We have a large variety of hard and soft boards ranging from 6' - 9'2. Boards and wetsuits are included in the price of our beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer packages. They are not included with the experienced surfer package. 10. What can we do on non - surfing days? On non- surfing days guests can hang out at one of the local beaches, have a shop in the town of Aljezur, have a half or full day horse riding with one of the local horse stables, take one of the surf boards and practice what you have learned, or just chill out on the hammocks at the lodge! 11. Do you ever have families stay? Yes, having a small family ourselves we usually attract families and love to have them stay! 12. What is the best airport to fly into? Faro airport is the best airport to fly into as it the closest. It is approximately 1hr hour and 15 minutes drive from the lodge. Lisbon is also a good airport to fly into. There is a bus that takes 4 hours to get into Aljezur where we can pick you up. Aljezur is only 10 min drive from the lodge. 13. Can you accept arrivals during Monday - Friday or bookings that are shorter than a week? Yes, we do accept bookings for less than a week and from Monday - Friday but our surf course only runs from Monday - Friday so guests arriving during the week days may miss out on surfing days. We are also only able to collect guests after 6pm from Lagos during Monday - Friday. 14. Do you get many people traveling alone? Yes, the majority of the guests that stay with us travel alone. 15. Do you accept credit cards? No, we only accept bank transfer or cash payments. 16. My flight departs Faro airport at 6:00am. Will you be able to offer a transfer to Lagos for around 3:00am or 4:00am? No, I am afraid we do not offer free transfers from the hours of 12pm - 6:00 am. We will be able to arrange a taxi for you from the surf lodge to lagos which will cost around Eur 30 - 40. Shuttle Direct does offer transfers in the early hours of the morning from Lagos to Faro. Usually the shuttle leaves Lagos at around 3am for flights leaving at 6am. |
