Arrifana Surf Lodge Algarve Portugal

Yes! We are within 15-20 minutes walking distance to Arrifana Beach. One of the popular walking trails is also directly behind the lodge and gets you to Arrifana beach via the scenic route. 🙂

The nearest town is Aljezur which is a 10 minute drive from the lodge. It is a municipal town and contains a health centre, pharmacy, supermarkets, historic castle, museums, and lots of great restaurants and bars. We offer free transfers from Aljezur on arrival and departure.

The best way to get from Faro airport to Aljezur is by booking a direct transfer with our local driver. The price is €90 and subject to availability. If you prefer to use public transport we recommend the train service from Faro train station to Lagos and then catching a bus or taxi to Aljezur.

The bus leaves Lagos bus station for Aljezur at 15:20.

For any other times you can book our local driver from Lagos directly to the lodge. The price is €20.

A car is not necessary but it will make your holiday more flexible. It can be nice to have transport to other areas of the Algarve during the afternoons when the surf class is finished for the day and it also makes transfer to the lodge very easy. We recommend for guests that are booked on the experienced surfer package to rent a car as we only offer transport to beaches where our surf classes will be given. The car rental companies offer great deals out of season so it can be a great option. Check out www.autorent.pt for some great rental deals.

Yes. We cater for all different meal requirements including vegetarians, Coeliacs, vegans, and any type of food allergies. Please let Sarah know when making a booking.

Yes. Beginners and intermediate surfers like to choose us for their surfing holiday as we always offer outstanding tuition.

Yes. The ATM is located less than a 5 min drive from the lodge. We are always happy to stop at the ATM to and from the beach if needed.

Yes. Arrifana Surf lodge is located very close to a few local restaurants as well as a small Portuguese bar. Hugo's bar is less than 5 minutes walk away and Boa vida social club has a skate bowl that is a great place to check out on Saturday evenings when they have live music. Sector B burger bar located opposite the lodge also has a great atmosphere in the evening and is a great place to check out our amazing sunsets. It is a very small village however so if you are looking for a party spot this might not be the place for you.

Yes. Boards are hired out at €20 per day and wetsuits are hired out at €5 per day. We do offer special discounts for hiring out on a weekly basis!  We have a large variety of hard and soft boards ranging from 6' - 9'2. Boards and wetsuits are included in the price of our beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer packages. They are not included with the experienced surfer package.

Yes. Having a small family ourselves we usually attract families and love to have them stay.

Faro airport is the best airport to fly into as it is the closest. It is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from the lodge via rental car. Lisbon is also a good airport to fly into. You can take the Rede Expresso bus that takes 4 hours to get into Aljezur where we can pick you up. Aljezur is only 10 min drive from the lodge.  

In the low season we are more flexible with arrival days! 

Yes. The majority of the guests that stay with us travel alone as it is a great opportunity to meet new people

No. We only accept bank transfer or cash payments.

We can arrange a private taxi from the lodge direct to the Faro airport. The price is €90 and is subject to availability.  

Yes, I am afraid we only accept check in from 12:00 until 23:00. In this case it is best to sleep over in Faro or Lagos and arrive the following day.

Check in times are from 11:00 - 23:00 and check out time is at 10:30. We are happy for you to arrive and depart later however. Please just let us know and we can arrange an earlier check in or later check out.

Arrifana Surf Lodge is fortunate enough to be located right next to some incredible restaurants. Most less than 5 min walk away. Guests can choose to eat at one of these restaurants or  they have the choice to cook at the lodge using the kitchen facilities available. There is a grocery shop very close to the lodge that provides fresh local produce and dry staples.

Our professional photographer Jon barra is on the beach where you will be surfing most days. He will try and capture your best moments on the waves. As well as capturing live action surf shots he will also capture some of your moments out of the water as well. Students who decide to pre book his services get to enjoy a €5 discount on the surf photos. If you are still undecided on whether you want photos or not don't worry as you can always decide to purchase at the end of the week once you have seen the photos. The price of the photos are €25.
